ASTM International Committee on Sensory Evaluation Honors Harry T. Lawless with David R. Peryam Award

Harry T. Lawless, professor emeritus (retired) at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA, was honored with the David R. Peryam Award from the ASTM International committee on sensory evaluation (E18).  

Lawless was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field of basic and applied science.

Lawless, an ASTM International member since 2008, served as a professor at Cornell University from 1989 to 2010. He previously served as a scientist with S.C. Johnson Wax, a postdoctoral fellow at the U.S. Army Natick Laboratories, and a member of the Monell Chemical Senses Center. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yale University and a doctorate degree in psychology from Brown University.

Prior to his retirement, Lawless was a member of the Association for Chemoreception Sciences, the Society of Sensory Professionals, and a member and former chairman of the Sensory Evaluation Division of the Institute of Food Technologies.
