ASTM International Committee on Petroleum Products, Liquid Fuels, and Lubricants Honors Frederick J. Passman with George V. Dyroff Award

Frederick J. Passman, Ph.D., president of Biodeterioration Control Associates, Inc., in Princeton, New Jersey, USA, has received the George V. Dyroff Award from ASTM International Committee on Petroleum Products, Liquid Fuels, and Lubricants (D02).
 
A member of ASTM since 1986, Passman was recognized for his many services to the committee over the course of his distinguished career. The committee previously honored Passman with the Award of Excellence and the Award of Appreciation. Passman also received the Award of Merit from ASTM International Committee on Occupational Health and Safety (E34).

Passman, president of Biodeterioration Control Associates, Inc., founded the company in 1992. Before founding BCA, he held positions with ANGUS Chemical Company, and Charter BioLabs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the Indiana University, Bloomington, and a Ph.D. in marine microbiology from the University of New Hampshire. Passman served as commanding officer of six successive Naval Reserve Units as part of a 31-year career as a US Naval Reserve officer.
 
In addition to ASTM International, Passman is a member of the American Society of Microbiology, International Association for Stability and Handling of Liquid Fuels, Society for Industrial Microbiology, National Association of Corrosion Engineers, International Biodeterioration and Biodegradation Society, Naval Order of the United States Institute, and the United States Naval Institute.
