ASTM International Committee on Metallic-Coated Iron and Steel Products Honors Herbert Koch with Kenneth J. Boedecker, Jr. Distinguished Service Award

Herbert Koch, quality manager at Harris Steel Company, Cicero, Illinois, USA has received the Kenneth J. Boedecker, Jr. Distinguished Service Award from ASTM International Committee A05 on Metallic-Coated Iron and Steel Products.

A member since 1985, Koch has been the recipient of many awards including the Award of Merit in 2012 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. In addition to his active membership with A05, he is also a member of multiple committees including A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel, and Related Alloys, B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys, and E28 on Mechanical Testing.

Prior to beginning his career with Harris Steel Company in 1989, Koch worked as a sales and quality manager at Basic Steel in Riverdale, Illinois for 15 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Eastern Illinois University.

In addition to ASTM, Koch is a member of the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club, Boy Scouts of America, and the International Organization for Standardization.
