ASTM International Committee on Carbon Black Honors Dirk Roller with Jeff Melsom Distinguished Service Award

Dirk Roller, Ph.D., the director of Quality EMEA and the Reference Lab for Orion Engineered Carbons in Cologne, Germany, was honored with the Jeff Melsom Distinguished Service Award from ASTM International Committee D24 on Carbon Black (D24).


Roller joined ASTM in 2004, and was rewarded for his outstanding leadership and contributions in developing new test methods and advancing the technical quality of existing test methods for carbon black.

Roller received a bachelor’s degree in physical chemistry from the University Cologne, where he also earned his Ph.D. in chemistry. He became a laboratory manager in the Analytical Laboratory where he focused on standardizing test methods and procedures in his company. Roller served in various lab functions and is now the Quality leader for the EMEA region at Orion Engineered Carbons.
