ASTM International Cement Committee Presents Top Annual Award to Chiara Ferraris

ASTM International’s Committee on Cement (C01) has presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Chiara (Clarissa) Ferraris of National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD., U.S.A. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.

The committee honored Ferraris for outstanding contributions and leadership in the development of standards related to cement and concrete materials. She has been a member of ASTM since 1994, serving as the subcommittee C01.29 vice-chairman since 2009. She received the Award for Appreciation in 2014.

Ferraris is a physicist in the engineering laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She has been with NIST since 1994, having previously served as research physicist and assistant.

In addition to ASTM, Ferraris is a member of the American Concrete Institute and RILEM.
