ASTM International Building Performance Committee Names Larry D. Brown as Chairman

Larry D. Brown, senior technical director at Tectum Inc. in Newark, Ohio, has been appointed chair of ASTM International Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings. The committee consists of 1050 members responsible for almost 250 standards related to the performance of buildings and their components.

An ASTM International member since 1983, Brown works on a number of E06 groups and is also chair of Subcommittee E06.11 Horizontal and Vertical Structures/Structural Performance of Completed Structures. In addition, he is a member of ASTM Committees C17 on Fiber-Reinforced Cement Products, E05 on Fire Standards, and E33 on Environmental Acoustics.

Outside ASTM International, Brown serves on the International Code Council, the National Fire Protection Association, and the Ohio Council of the National Institute of Building Sciences.

Brown joined the Tectum staff in 1979 as director of quality assurance, became technical director in 1985, and assumed his current position in 1990. He previously gained professional experience at Na-Churs Plant Food Co. as a chemist.
