ASTM International Award of Merit Recognizes Contributions of Michael Troedel

Michael Troedel, president of Troedel & Associates Inc. in Lake Villa, Ill., has been recognized with an ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow, the highest ASTM honor for individual contributions to standards activities.

Troedel was cited "For outstanding leadership, guidance and technical contributions to ASTM International Committee F02 on Flexible Barrier Packaging in developing and publishing global standards in support of the flexible packaging industry."

An ASTM International member who joined the organization in 1975, Troedel is a past chair of Committee F02 and acts as chair of Subcommittee F02.10 on Permeation.  Committee F02 has honored Troedel for his contributions with two Awards of Appreciation, in 2001 and 2005.  In addition to his work with F02, he also serves on Committees D10 on Packaging and D20 on Plastics. 

Before founding Troedel & Associates Inc. in 2003, Troedel held various management positions in the flexible packaging industry at companies including Pactiv Corp., Baxter Healthcare Corp., Kraft Foods Inc. and General Mills Corp. 

Outside of ASTM International, Troedel is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Consultants Council of the Institute of Packaging Professionals.  He holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin.
