ASTM International Award of Merit Bestowed on Terry A. DeBold

A 2005 ASTM International Award of Merit and the accompanying title of fellow recognize the contributions of Terry A. DeBold, a specialist retired from Carpenter Technology Corp. in Reading, Pa., to ASTM Committee G01 on Corrosion of Metals.

DeBold lives in Wyomissing, Pa.

DeBold, an ASTM International member since 1976, received the award for his significant contributions to the development and revision of widely used standards for stress corrosion cracking of stainless steels. He worked on several G01 subcommittees, had been chair of the G01.06.02 group on stress-corrosion cracking for more than a decade, and also served on ASTM Committees A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Materials and B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys.

In his career, DeBold concentrated on the corrosion of stainless and nickel base alloys for oil field, chemical process industry, and magnetic applications. His work also included mill service and failure analysis, product and process development, and standardization and testing. While at Carpenter Technology he was awarded several patents for stainless steels and nickel-base materials.

A certified six sigma black belt, DeBold is a member of NACE International (the National Association of Corrosion Engineers) and a former member of ASM International. He is a graduate of Lafayette College with a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering.
