ASTM International’s Committee on Accreditation and Certification (E36) has presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Peter Unger of A2LA in Frederick, MD., U.S.A. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.

The committee honored Unger for outstanding service, significant contributions, and leadership in improving lab accreditation processes through his service with ASTM. He has been a member since 1982, serving as the E36 committee chairman from 1992 to 1997.

Unger is the president emeritus at A2LA since January 2016, having previously served as the president and CEO and vice president.
