Alan Kaufman of the Toy Association Joins ASTM International Board of Directors

Alan P. Kaufman, senior vice president of technical affairs for the Toy Association in New York, New York, USA, will serve a three-year term on the ASTM International board of directors. 

The Toy Association represents toy and youth entertainment products and importers. Kaufman leads the organization’s work related to the environment, supply chain, and factory processes, and is a key contributor to its work on toy safety and standards development, among related matters. 

Before joining the Toy Association in 2011, Kaufman was the vice president for global product safety and regulatory affairs at Toys”R”Us.

A member of ASTM International since 2011, Kaufman is a member of the committees on consumer products (F15), sustainability (E60), and declarable substances in materials (F40). He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. 

In addition to ASTM International, Kaufman is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals, and was a past president of the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization. He is certified as a quality engineer by the American Society for Quality.
