Abstracts are invited for ASTM International’s ASTM Rook Conference on Asbestos Issues, to be held Aug. 4-8, 2025, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The event is sponsored by ASTM International’s air quality committee (D22).
Since 1986, the conference has allowed professionals from diverse backgrounds gather to present, debate, inquire, and share complex ideas that help shape asbestos science. The themes engaged in the often subtle and overlapping nuances of asbestos issues involve medical and research community, geologic source interests, commercial built environment representatives, industrial hygiene experts, regulatory agencies, laboratory professionals, and more. Insights from guest speakers explore both the challenges of asbestos, as well as the unforeseen avenues of cooperation and solutions.
This five-day conference will feature topics, themes, and internationally recognized experts on current asbestos issues. It will help provide content and context for the history of asbestos issues, describe current hot topics, and where future study might lead.

To participate in the symposium, authors must submit a 250- to 300-word abstract to the online Abstract Submission Portal no later than Nov. 30, 2024. To ensure your abstract was received into the ASTM database, please email symposia@astm.org and let us know that you have submitted an abstract.
