ASTM International Medical and Surgical Materials Committee Approves Latest Complement Activation Standard

Understanding how blood within a human body will interact with any substance with which it comes in contact is a crucial part of any medical process. A new practice recently approved by ASTM International Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices is one of a series of standards that evaluates the complement activating properties of solid materials intended for use in contact with blood.

Significant Revisions Made to ASTM International Sheet and Strip Steel Standards

ASTM International Subcommittee A01.19 on Sheet and Strip Steel has made three significant changes to ASTM standards under its jurisdiction. The changes are:

• Reporting of boron levels made mandatory;
• Changes to size limitations of general requirements and product standards for hot rolled material; and
• Addition of grades 90 and 100 for hot rolled sheet and strip products.

ASTM International Unmanned Aircraft Systems Committee to Address New Standards at November Meeting

All interested parties are invited to attend the meetings of ASTM International Committee F38 on Unmanned Aircraft Systems on Nov. 13 and 14, during the November Committee Week in Atlanta, Georgia. The subjects to be discussed at the meeting are sense-and-avoid, terminology, launchers, visual range flight practices, commercial pilot practices and manufacturing quality assurance practice.
