Forensic Psychophysiology Committee in ASTM International Aims at Reducing Perjury with New Standard

The aim of a new ASTM standard developed by Committee E52 on Forensic Psychophysiology is to assist the judicial system in reducing incidents of perjury. The new standard, E 2324, Guide for PDD Paired Testing, is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee E52.05 on Psychophysiological Detection of Deception (PDD).

Packaging Committee in ASTM International Forms Task Group on Radio Frequency Identification

ASTM International Committee D10 on Packaging has formed a new task group to investigate the possibilities of radio frequency identification (RFID) as a means of tracking packages. The task group is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee D10.18 on Miscellaneous Packaging.

The purpose of the task group is to develop standards to evaluate the performance of RFID tags used on packaging and palletized loads under various conditions, such as the physical/climatic distribution environment, as well as the manufacturing and packaging environments.

Nanotechnology Is the Subject of New ASTM International Committee E56

ASTM International, one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world, announced the formation of a new committee to develop international consensus standards, definitions, terminology, and procedures covering nanotechnology. A branch of science and engineering that deals with things smaller than 100 nanometers (1 nm equals one-billionth of a meter), nanotechnology may revolutionize all manufactured products, as well as medical, industrial, and scientific procedures.

Proposed New ASTM International Standard Addresses Watertightness in Concrete Tanks and Pipes

A proposed new specification currently being developed by ASTM Committee C27 on Precast Concrete Products addresses the issue of watertightness in septic tanks and grease interceptors. The proposed standard, WK7426, Specification for Resilient Connectors Between Reinforced Concrete Tanks and Pipes, is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee C27.30 on Water and Wastewater Containers.

New HDPE Pipe Specification Focuses on Storm Sewer Applications

A new ASTM standard developed by Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems will be an important step in advancing the use of high density polyethylene pipe in municipal storm sewer applications. The standard, F 2306, Specification for 12 to 60 in. (300 to 1500 mm) Annular Corrugated Profile Wall Polyethylene (PE) Pipe and Fittings for Gravity Flow Storm Sewer and Subsurface Drainage Applications, is under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee F17.62 on Sewer.

Nondestructive Testing Committee in ASTM International Begins Work on Digital Detector Array Guide

ASTM International Committee E07 on Nondestructive Testing has initiated work on a proposed new Guide for Digital Detector Array Selection. Nuevas normas internacionales de ASTM reemplazan a las normas ANSI Z41 sobre calzado de proteccin

Dos nuevas normas internacionales de ASTM, F 2412 (Métodos de prueba para protección de los pies) y F 2413 (Especificación sobre requisitos de rendimiento para calzado de protección) reemplazan a la norma anterior, ANSI Z41 (Norma sobre calzado de protección personal), que ha sido retirada. Las dos nuevas normas de ASTM estarán bajo jurisdicción del Comité F13 de ASTM sobre calzado y seguridad de peatones y pasarelas.
