Proposed Cannabis Standard Will Help Establish Information Security Programs

A proposed ASTM International standard will provide structure, suggestions, basic requirements, and background education for developing an information security program specific to cannabis businesses. ASTM’s committee on cannabis (D37) is developing the proposed standard.

New Nuclear Technology Standard Covers Small Punch Test for Metallic Materials

A new ASTM International standard will allow laboratories and research institutions to estimate mechanical properties of metallic materials through a minimally destructive process known as small punch testing. ASTM’s nuclear technology and applications committee (E10) developed the new standard, which will soon be published as E3205.

ASTM International Publishes 2nd Technical Report on Aviation

Today, global standards developerASTM International announced the publication of a new technical report on aviation. The report, “Developmental Pillars of Increased Autonomy for Aircraft Systems”, was developed by ASTM’s autonomy design and operations in aviation administrative committee (AC377).

New ASTM Standard Will Help Determine Presence of Metal in Fuels

A new ASTM International standard will be used to test for specific metals in crude oils. ASTM’s petroleum products, liquid fuels, and lubricants committee (D02) developed the new standard.

 

Proposed Standard Will Test Performance of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete

A proposed ASTM International standard will be used to evaluate the tensile performance of fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC) using cylindrical specimens with double-punch loading. ASTM’s concrete and concrete aggregates committee (C09) is developing the proposed standard.

Proposed Standard Will Aid Trace Content Analysis in Carbon Black

A proposed ASTM International standard will provide test methods used to determine trace metal content in carbon black with ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy) or ICP-MS (Inductively Couples Plasma – Mass Spectrometry) after adequate digestion. ASTM’s committee on carbon black (D24) is developing the proposed standard (WK73324).

Proposed Standard Provides Specifications for Three-Lumen Foley Catheters

A proposed ASTM International standard will help provide specifications and test methods applicable to three-lumen catheters. ASTM’s committee on rubber and rubber-like materials (D11) is developing the proposed standard.

The proposed standard establishes performance requirements for the various types of short-term use of a single-use, three-lumen, balloon retention catheter. Lumens are the inner spaces in tubes that transport liquids, gases, or surgical devices during a medical procedure.

Proposed Standard Provides Guidance on Management of Waste Impacted by PFAS

A proposed ASTM International standard provides guidance on the management of investigation-derived waste (IDW) from sites that may be impacted by perfluoralkyl substances (PFAS). The committee on environmental assessment, risk management, and corrective action (E50) is developing the standard.

PFAS are chemicals often found in products including household items, outdoor gear, nonstick cookware and more. IDW is the water, soil and cuttings that develop during sampling and drilling activities when investigating a likely contaminated site.

New ASTM International Practice for Making Butt Fusion Joints

A new ASTM International standard will help determine procedures for making butt fusion joints with Polyamide 12 (PA12) pipe and fitting by means of heat fusion joining. ASTM’s plastic piping systems committee (F17) developed the standard, which will soon be published as F3372.

Proposed Standard Will Test for Deterioration Resistance

A proposed ASTM International standard would provide the determination of polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in aqueous matrices. ASTM’s committee on water (D19) is developing the proposed standard (WK73235).

The proposed method would be applicable for the rapid, and definitive determination of PFAS compounds in water samples ranging from clean water to highly contaminated wastewater. The proposed method would provide the flexibility of users to modify the calibration model or add and remove compounds as needed provided the quality control acceptance criteria is met.
