Quality Control of Soil Compaction Using ASTM Standards - Manual and Companion CD Now Available

A new publication available from ASTM International provides the latest information on the proper application of ASTM standards for soil compaction for various earthworks.

Manual 70, Quality Control of Soil Compaction Using ASTM Standards, combines established soil mechanics engineering fundamentals and the discussions on using the latest ASTM standards related to those fundamentals.

Manual users should be familiar with ASTM D2487, Standard Practice for Classification of Soils for Engineering Purposes (Unified Soil Classification System). This practice is found throughout Manual 70 in the narratives, the various figures and tables, and is included on the companion CD-ROM, ASTM Soil Compaction Standards—A Companion CD to Manual 70.

The companion CD includes 34 ASTM International standards that address the test methods used for analyzing or controlling the compaction of soil. These methods:

- Define basic soil properties;
- Determine the reference compaction values for soils;
- Determine the field density for compacted soils; and
- Determine the water content for field tests on compacted soils. These are the key test methods in the compilation.

Manual 70, Quality Control of Soil Compaction Using ASTM Standards is available in hard copy (ISBN: 978-0-8031-7023-0; stock # MNL70) or as an E-book (ISBN: 978-0-8031-8888-4; stock # MNL70-EB) for $77 USD.

ASTM Soil Compaction Standards—A Companion CD to Manual 70 (ISBN: 978-0-8031-7026-1; stock #: SOILCD11) is available for $99 USD. As a special offer, both the book and CD can be purchased for $140 USD (stock # SOILCOMBO).
