ASTM Launches Environmental Professional Certification Course
ASTM International’s education and credentialing team has developed a personnel certification program designed for practicing environmental professionals, specifically those performing environmental site assessments (ESAs).
For those working in environmental and engineering services and performing ESAs, this certification confirms competency in ASTM’s Phase I assessment standard (E1527) and associated regulatory background. The certification will test user knowledge of how to properly perform a Phase I ESA, as well as how to document and report the results according to the standard.
The exam builds on ASTM standards E1527, E1528, and E2247, covering essential topics involved in a Phase I ESA, including:
- CERCLA;
- terminology;
- user responsibilities;
- physical setting records;
- government records review;
- historical records review;
- interviews;
- site reconnaissance;
- report preparation; and
- non-scope items.
