James Brown Honored with Sydney D. Andrews Scroll of Achievement

ASTM International’s petroleum products, liquid fuels, and lubricants committee (D02) has presented its Sydney D. Andrews Scroll of Achievement Award to James Brown, chemometrician with Guided Wave, Inc. and Process Insights.

A long-time ASTM International member, Brown was recognized for his many contributions to advancing the aims of the committee and the organization as an expression of high personal esteem. Brown has been previously recognized with two Awards of Excellence (E13, D02), two Awards of Appreciation (E13, D02), and the D02 George D. Dyroff Award (2013).

Brown began his current position with Process-Insights in 2023, having previously been principal scientist at Applied Instrument Technologies, Inc. since 2013.  Prior to that, Brown worked for 34 years with ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company.  His career concentration is infrared spectroscopy and chemometrics for laboratory and online process analysis of petrochemicals. He received his bachelor of science in chemistry from Dickinson College, and his Ph.D. in chemistry from Princeton University.

Brown is also a member of the Society of Applied Spectroscopy and the Coblentz Society.
