Call for Papers Open for ASTM International’s Conference on Technologies for the Mitigation of Aircraft Landing Performance Related Runway Excursion

Papers are invited for the Technologies for the Mitigation of Aircraft Landing Performance Related Runway Excursion Conference, to be held in the first week of December 2023 in Washington, D.C. The event is sponsored by ASTM International’s committee E17 on vehicle-pavement systems and will be held in conjunction with the committee’s standards development meetings. The language of the conference will be English.

This conference will provide visibility to, and a forum for, the new and emerging standards, regulatory guidance, technology, and sensors whose intended function is to support the mitigation of runway excursion risk through the sensing and transmission of Runway Condition Assessment related data.

The topics for this event are broken down into the following categories:

  1. Regulators - FAA, Transport Canada, ICAO, etc.
  2. Standards – ASTM
  3. Safety Investigators – NTSB, TSB, etc.
  4. Sensing Technologies
    1. Aircraft Sensing Technologies for Wheel Braking
    2. Pavement Sensing Technologies
  5. Operators
    1. Airports
    2. Airlines
  6. Research Institutions – NLR, Georgia Tech, FAA etc.

To participate in the conference, authors must submit a 250 to 300-word preliminary abstract using the online Abstract Submission Portal no later than May 19, 2023. To ensure your abstract was received into the ASTM database, please email symposia@astm.org and let us know that you have submitted an abstract.
