ASTM International Honors Karam Jaradat with Soil and Rock Award
Karam Jaradat, postdoctoral associate at Virginia Tech, has received the 2022 C.A. Hogentogler Award from ASTM International for his contributions to the soil and rock committee (D18).
Jaradat was recognized for a paper of outstanding merit on soils for engineering purposes: “Modified Thermomechanical Triaxial Cell for Microscopic Assessment of Clay Fabric Using Synchrotron X-Ray Diffraction,” which appeared in Volume 43 of the ASTM Geotechnical Testing Journal. Much of his work focuses on sustainability, and he specializes in energy and thermal geotechnics and infrastructure.
Prior to becoming a postdoctoral associate, Jaradat was a geotechnical engineer at Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. in Herndon Virginia. He most recently graduated from The State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2019 with a Ph.D. in civil engineering. He is also an associate member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
