ASTM International Honors Dawn Root with Top Annual Award

ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Dawn Root for her contributions to ASTM’s plastics committee (D20).

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Root was recognized for her foundational mentorship, rigorous committee stewardship, and tenacious willingness to share her industry expertise on plastics.

An ASTM International member since 2004, Root had been previously honored by the committee with the Award of Recognition (2012), the Outstanding Achievement Award (2015) and the Robert MacFarlane Award of Excellence (2017).

Root works as a global specifications manager at DuPont Mobility and Materials, a position she has held since 2004, and her past two decades of work have been focused on material specification for engineered polymers. In 1988, she received her Ph.D. from Purdue University. She is also a member of ISO and SAE, an avid world traveler, and a mother of two.
