ASTM International Honors Martin Harper with Top Annual Award

ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Martin Harper for his contributions to ASTM’s air quality committee (D22).

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Harper was recognized for his prolific body of research, dedicated advocacy of ASTM standards in scientific practice, and overall outstanding career in the field of occupational hygiene.

An ASTM International member since 1996, Harper had been previously honored by the committee with Awards of Appreciation in 2003, 2005 and 2013.

Harper works as a courtesy professor at the University of Florida, a position he’s held since retiring from full-time employment in 2022. In his long career, he’s worked for two commercial air sampling instrument manufacturers, four universities, and was for 14 years chief of the exposure assessment branch of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
