ASTM International Honors William Luecke with Top Annual Award

ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to William Luecke for his contributions to ASTM’s mechanical testing committee (E28).

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Luecke was recognized for his collaborative leadership, boundless diligence, and deep technical expertise in developing mechanical testing standards.

An ASTM International member since 1997, Luecke had been previously honored by the committee with the Award of Appreciation (2008) and the Excellence in Standardization Leadership Award (2013). 

Luecke works as a materials research engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, a position he’s held since 1991, the same year he received his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Cornell University. His work in its Mechanical Performance Group involves developing means for measuring mechanical properties of materials under extreme conditions.
