ASTM International Honors Helen A. Waldorf with Top Annual Award from Key Committee

ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Helen A. Waldorf, for her contributions to the environmental assessment, risk management and corrective action committee (E50).  

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Waldorf was honored for her outstanding contributions, vision, and leadership in developing stakeholder groups and multiple important standards for the committee.  

An ASTM International member since 1994, Waldorf has previously been recognized by the committee with the Award of Appreciation (2014), and the 25 Year Service Award (2019). She serves as chair of the new subcommittee on climate and community (E50.07) and is also a member of the asset management committee (E53).

Waldorf served environmental trainer with the University of Massachusetts from 2009 until her retirement in 2019. She previously held positions with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, Montachusett Regional Planning Commission, and Ecol Sciences. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rice University, a master’s degree in forestry from Yale Environmental Studies, and a master’s in public administration from Harvard.  

In addition to ASTM International, Waldorf is a member of the League of Women Voters.
