Biodiesel Standards Compilation Now Available from ASTM International

A new CD-ROM, "ASTM Standards Related to Biodiesel Fuel Blend Stock (B 100) for Middle Distillate Fuels," is now available from ASTM International. The work includes the latest edition of D6751, Standard Specification for Biodiesel Fuel (B100) Blend Stock for Distillate Fuels as well as 35 other referenced ASTM standards. Among the standards are two practices for sampling petroleum and petroleum products, two specifications for diesel and gas turbine fuel oils, and numerous test methods.

The compilation provides information relevant to the increasing market for diesel fuel, which has encouraged the development and use of alternative diesel fuels and diesel fuel blend components such as the very successful biodiesel component.

D6751, the core standard on the new CD-ROM, defines biodiesel as "a fuel comprised of mono-alkyl esters of long chain fatty acids derived from vegetable oils or animal fats, designated B100." The standard covers the use of biodiesel as a blend component to be mixed with petroleum diesel in typical blend ratios ranging from 2 volume percent up to 20 volume percent.

Copies of the CD-ROM, "ASTM Standards Related to Biodiesel Fuel Blend Stock (B 100) for Middle Distillate Fuels" (ISBN: 0-8031-3346-4, stock # BIODIESEL) are available for $85 from ASTM Customer Service (phone: 610/832-9585; fax: 610/832-9555; or https://www.astm.org/contact), or online at http://www.astm.org.
