ASTM International’s metallic-coated iron and steel products committee (A05) has presented Thomas Langill, technical director at the American Galvanizers Association since 1994, with its 2022 Kenneth J. Boedecker, Jr. Award.

Langill was recognized for his exemplary contributions to the success of committee A05 and industry-leading expertise on buried bridges. A long-time member of ASTM International, Langill has been previously honored by the committee with the Award of Merit (2009), the Francis L. LaQue Memorial Award, and the A05 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Langill’s other professional memberships include the American Society of Metals, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, American Welding Society, the Society for Protective Coatings, and the Association for Iron and Steel Technology. He graduated from John Carroll University in 1973 with a bachelor of science in physics, and with a master of science in physics in 1975. He then received his Ph.D. in material science and engineering Northwestern University in 1980.
