ASTM International Honors Charles Alt with Top Annual Award

ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Charles Alt for his contributions to ASTM’s concrete and concrete aggregates committee (C09).

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Alt was recognized for his reliable and gracious leadership as chair, along with the well-respected technical expertise he lent to development of standards.

An ASTM International member since 1994, Alt had been previously honored by the committee with the Award of Appreciation (2017).

Alt currently works as technical services director, Americas at Imerys Aluminates, a position he has held since 2014, and one of his career focuses has been the use of calcium aluminate cements in concrete and refractory applications. He holds a wide variety of professional memberships, including ACI, ACerS, ICRI, MMSA, and TCNA. In 1988, he received a bachelor of science in ceramic engineering from Ohio State University, and in 1996 he received his master of business administration from the College of William and Mary.
