Millard Scott Masteller Honored by ASTM International Magnetic Properties Committee

Dr. Millard Scott Masteller, owner of Masteller Special Materials Consulting LLC in Palm Coast, Florida, USA, was honored with the Frank W. Reinhart Award by ASTM International’s magnetic properties committee (A06).

An ASTM International member since 1984, Masteller was recognized for a life dedicated to the understanding of magnetism and magnetic materials, and for the singular accomplishment to refine and disseminate the essential terminology used by the magnetic properties committee and the global magnetic materials community, according to his citation. 

Masteller has owned Masteller Special Materials Consulting LLC, since 2008, having previously served in various roles with Carpenter Technology Corporation, Spang and Company, and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. He holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from Drexel University, and both a master’s and a doctorate in metallurgy and materials science from Carnegie Mellon University. 

In 1996, Masteller was honored with the Award of Merit, ASTM International’s highest recognition for individual contributions to standards development. He was also honored with the Award of Appreciation in 2016.
