Michael Brisson Joins ASTM International Board of Directors

Michael J. Brisson, technical adviser at the Savannah River National Laboratory (Aiken, South Carolina, USA), will serve a three-year term on the ASTM International board of directors.  

Savannah River National Laboratory, an applied science facility and national laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy, focuses on environmental management, national and homeland security, and energy security. 

Brisson has been with Savannah River National Laboratory since 1988, having previously served as a chemist at Beecham Products. 

An ASTM International member since 2005, Brisson is a member of the committees on air quality (D22), nuclear fuel cycle (C26), metal powder and metal powder products (B09), soil and rock (D18), water (D19), performance of buildings (E06), nuclear technology and applications (E10), quality and statistics (E11), and homeland security applications (E54). He has been honored with the Award of Merit, Moyer D. Thomas Award, the J.A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award, and numerous committee awards.  

Brisson holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the College of Charleston and a master’s degree in waste management from the National Technological University.
