Linde Leadership Award Bestowed on Alcoas Carroll D. Davis

Carroll D. Davis, section head of analytical chemistry for the Alcoa Technical Center in Alcoa Center, Pa., was honored with the ASTM International Ted Linde Leadership Award in recognition of his leadership skills and especially for an exemplary job as main committee chairman, a post he has filled since 2000. Davis received the award from ASTM Committee E01 on Analytical Chemistry for Metals, Ores and Related Materials, a 275-member committee with jurisdiction over some 165 standards.

Davis is a resident of Irwin, Pa.

An ASTM International member since 1983, Davis serves on several subcommittees in E01. He is also a member of Committee E13 Molecular Spectroscopy and Chromatography and the Committee on Standards.

Davis' career has focused on analytical chemistry for aluminum and aluminum ores, quality system implementation, and technical management. Before joining the staff of Alcoa Technical Center, he was section head, analytical chemistry, for the Reynolds Corporate Technology Center in Richmond, Va., and he held positions at the Reynolds Metallurgy Laboratory and Reynolds Alumina Research.

Outside ASTM International, Davis is a member of the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation, the American Society for Quality, and ASM International, and he serves on the board of directors of A2LA. A graduate of the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in engineering physics, Davis earned his master's in material science from the University of Virginia.
