[size= small]According to a recent annual report submitted by the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BAS), a 2002 memorandum of understanding signed by BAS and ASTM International continues to be a success.

The Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina is an autonomous government
administration that issues and publishes national standards and technical regulations. BAS acts on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina in international, European and other interstate standards organizations.

Per the report, 18 ASTM International standards related to petroleum products and lubricants were adopted as Bosnia and Herzegovina identical standards over the past year. The use of ASTM standards by BAS helps avoid the duplication of work and benefits standards development initiatives in the country. A total of more than 50 ASTM International standards have been adopted by BAS since 2002.

Initiated in 2001, ASTM International's MOU program promotes communication between ASTM International and national standards bodies worldwide, fostering awareness of the standardization systems of all parties involved. The purpose of the program is to increase greater worldwide participation in the ASTM standards development process and facilitate the development of national standards that will aid health, safety, and environmental and economic conditions.
