This multi-faceted academic outreach initiative will be aimed at promoting the value of standards education at colleges and universities worldwide.
ASTM Signs MOU with National Standards Body of United Arab Emirates
Signing Follows Conference on Arab and U.S. Standards and Conformance
ASTM International has signed a memorandum of understanding with Emirates Authority for Standards and Metrology (ESMA), the national standards body of the United Arab Emirates. James Thomas, ASTM president, and Waleed Bin Falah Al-Mansouri, director general, ESMA, signed the MOU in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Oct. 13. The ASTM/ESMA MOU is the 62nd such agreement signed between ASTM and a national standards body.
ASTM International to Receive Corporate Award from Local Charity
ASTM International has been chosen to receive the 2008 Corporate Award from the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund, a resource center providing education, advocacy, information and financial assistance for the uninsured needs of families caring for seriously ill and physically challenged children.

ASTM International Makes Contribution to the Conshohocken Chapter of the American Heart Association
Eileen Mullen, Director, Human Resources, ASTM International, presents a contribution from ASTM to Chris Garrity, Senior Director, Start! Heart Walk, American Heart Association, Philadelphia, Pa. The $2,500 donation will be part of funds raised for the Philadelphia Start! Heart Walk at Citizens Bank Park on Nov. 15. Over 5,000 area walkers participate in the event, which raises funds to support research activities to fight the first and third leading causes of death — heart attack and stroke. The Start!
Scoreboard at Sutcliffe Park Benefits from ASTM International Donation
ASTM International has contributed $2,000 for the installation of a new scoreboard at Sutcliffe Park in Conshohocken, Pa. Nearly 300 children play baseball in the Conshohocken Little League. Teams within the league play each other and the Conshohocken Little League hosts games with teams from seven other townships at Sutcliffe Park. In addition, the park is used for Little League tournament play, which attracts teams from 25 to 30 different townships. Other groups renting the field through Conshohocken Township will have access to the scoreboard as well.

ASTM International has contributed to the relief efforts for victims of the massive earthquake that struck the Eastern Sichuan region of China in May with both monetary and product donations to assist with emergency response work and rebuilding efforts.
