ASTM International Launches Xcellerate™ Program for Emerging Technologies

Today, global standards organization ASTM International launched ASTM Xcellerate™, an emerging technology program focused on strengthening the world’s emerging technology from research to standards.

ASTM International and CEN Extend and Expand Cooperation Program

CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, and ASTM International have agreed to extend and expand a Technical Cooperation Agreement from 2019 in order to broaden and facilitate global dialogue and coordination in specific standardization areas of mutual interest.

ASTM International and Colombia Standards Organization Sign Licensing Agreement for Cannabis Certification

On May 17, ASTM International and the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification (ICONTEC) signed a licensing agreement related to certifications for the cannabis industry.

Per the new agreement, ASTM International will allow use of its CANNQ/HEMPQ certification program for cultivators, as well as ASTM’s Certification Mark, while ICONTEC will allow use of its Certification Good Agricultural Practices in Cannabis (BPARC).

Registration is now open for the ASTM International Symposium on Reactivity Tests for Cement-based Materials – From Lab testing to Standards and Specifications, to be held June 12, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Seattle (Washington, USA). The symposium is sponsored by ASTM’s concrete and concrete aggregates committee (C09) and will be held in conjunction with the committee’s June standards development meetings.

NUAIR to Host Upcoming ASTM International Meeting at New York UAS Test Site

Northeast UAS Airspace Integration Research Alliance, Inc. (NUAIR) will host the June meeting of ASTM International’s unmanned aircraft committee (F38) at the New York UAS Test Site in Rome, NY, June 1 through June 3. The meeting will bring together up to 100 international industry leaders in the uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) industry focused on developing industry standards to advance the integration of UAS into the national airspace.

ASTM International has announced the promotion of Mohsen Seifi, Ph.D., to vice president of global advanced manufacturing programs. Under Seifi’s leadership, ASTM’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) has seen significant growth since its launch in 2018, resulting in the creation of the new Global Advanced Manufacturing Programs business division. As head of this division, Seifi will expand ASTM’s executive team and continue to grow ASTM's footprint and thought leadership in the field of advanced/additive manufacturing technologies.

ASTM International Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Argentina’s Standards Body

ASTM International and Argentina’s national standards body, El Instituto Argentino de Normalización y Certificación (IRAM), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Business Annex on April 28. IRAM, a non-profit private civil association with more than 85 years of experience, coordinates the development of standards in Argentina.

The documents were signed by Stuart Radcliffe, vice president, sales and marketing, ASTM International, and Teresa Cendrowska, vice president, global cooperation, ASTM; and by Nicolás Eliçabe, director general for IRAM.
