ASTM International’s ceramic whitewares and related products committee (C21) has presented its Frank W. Reinhart Award to Richard Eppler, technical consultant and founder of Eppler Associates.
Eppler was honored in recognition of his 50 years of participation on the committee. Throughout this time, he has worked tirelessly toward the development and maintenance of terms and definitions that have impacted the quality, performance, and safety of the ceramics industry.
An ASTM International member since 1974, Eppler also received the Award of Merit from the committee in 1985.
Eppler’s career focus is coatings and ceramic whitewares, and he is a member, fellow, and previous vice president of the American Ceramic Society. His work with C21 over the years, especially within its terminology subcommittee (C21.01), has strongly influenced specifications for tile, tableware, and many other products.
Eppler received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1960.
