Barbara Andree Honored with Top Annual Award from Key ASTM International Committee

ASTM International’s forensics committee (E30) presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Barbara E. Andree, forensic chemist and management analyst with the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (Walnut Creek, California, USA). The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.

Andree was honored for meritorious and dedicated service to the committee, strong commitment to improving forensic science through standards development – especially in interdisciplinary standards and fire debris and explosive analysis – and exemplary expertise, leadership, and professionalism.

Andree has held her current position since 1995, having previously served in roles with the Virginia and Wisconsin state crime laboratories. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Williams College and a master’s degree in forensic chemistry from Northeastern University. Andree has been an ASTM International member since 2004.

In addition to ASTM International, Andree is also a member of the American Academy of Forensic Scientists, the American Board of Criminalistics, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology Organization of Scientific Area Committees.
