ASTM International Supports Hurricane Relief Efforts

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina that devastated the Gulf Coast of the United States, ASTM International has made several donations in support of the relief effort. Monetary support was given by the organization as well as by ASTM staff.

ASTM International provided $25,000 to the American Red Cross and $25,000 was given to the Salvation Army. A third donation was made by the ASTM staff and forwarded to the Red Cross. As with the Tsunami relief donation made earlier this year, ASTM International was eager to be part of an outpouring of compassion for the victims of the disaster.

ASTM International is mindful of the human toll this storm has taken and the continued suffering that it brings. Our thoughts, in particular, are with the many ASTM members living and working in the affected states.

As the rebuilding effort takes shape, ASTM International standards will play an enormous role in the engineering, construction, and human health and safety of the region. Thousands of ASTM standards are referenced in building codes and actively applied by the construction community.
