ASTM International Ships and Marine Technology Committee Presents Award to John Goering

ASTM International’s ships and marine technology committee (F25) honored John Goering, safety engineer with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (Washington, DC, USA), with the John Nachtsheim Award.

An ASTM International member since 2019, Goering was honored for his outstanding leadership in the committee and for his technical expertise in the development and maintenance of commercial consensus standards in support of the maritime industry. 

Goering has served in his current position since 2019, having previously served as a mechanical engineer at Military Sealift Command before joining the Maritime Administration in 2016.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in marine systems engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a master’s degree in system analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School. In addition to ASTM International, Goering is a member of the National Fire Protection Association.
