ASTM International Molecular Spectroscopy Committee To Meet in Conjunction With Pittcon 2007

ASTM International’s Committee E13 on Molecular Spectroscopy and Separation Science will hold its February meeting in conjunction with the 58th Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (Pittcon 2007) from Feb. 25-27 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Ill. All E13 meetings will be held in room N-129. During the conference and exhibit portion of Pittcon, ASTM staff will be on hand at Booth #4544 to discuss ASTM products including ASTM’s new Digital Library, which provides online access to over 30,000 papers and chapters and more than 400,000 pages of information published by ASTM International.

The Committee E13 meetings will include the first session of a new subcommittee, E13.16 on Chemical Sensors, on Feb. 26th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. All interested parties are invited to attend the subcommittee meeting. Discussion will include the standardization of terminology, data formats, and methods for testing, evaluating, data processing and interpreting in the chemical sensors field.

During Pittcon, ASTM is also hosting a special event to launch ASTM’s “Year of the Student” program. This program includes Standards on Campus, an initiative that enables instructors to incorporate a set of up to ten ASTM standards highly tailored to the content of an individual course, as well as a Campus-Wide Service that enables multi-user, desktop access to ASTM’s entire library of more than 12,000 standards. Other components of Year of the Student include free student membership in ASTM International and regular membership at a reduced fee the first year after a student has graduated. The Year of the Student event will take place in Room S105D, on March 1st from 9 a.m. to noon. Please RSVP to Ileane Smith (phone: 610/832-9552; ismith@astm.org).
