ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Patrick Schneider, manager, quality assurance at Allied Mineral Products (Pell City, Alabama, USA), for his contributions to the refractories committee (C08). 

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. 

Schneider was honored for his outstanding committee leadership and subcommittee contributions specifically in the area of monolithic standards. An ASTM International member since 1999, Schneider has previously been recognized with the Louis J. Trostel, Jr. Award (2017). 

Schneider has served in his current position since 2017, having previously held positions at Harbison Walker Refractories, Plibrico Company, and Riverside Refractories before joining Allied Mineral Products.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in ceramic engineering from Clemson University. In addition to ASTM International, Schneider is a member of the American Society for Quality.
