ASTM International Honors Jonathan H. Daniels with Top Annual Award from Key Committee

ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Jonathan H. Daniels, CEO and founder of Praxis Aerospace Concepts International, for his contributions to the unmanned aircraft systems committee (F38).

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. 

Daniels was honored for his exceptional service, dedication, and contributions to the committee and for respected expertise, outstanding leadership, and exemplary professionalism in the field of unmanned aircraft systems.

An ASTM International member since 2014, Daniels has previously been recognized with the Award of Appreciation (2019). He is also a member of the committees on environmental assessment, risk management and corrective action (E50), homeland security applications (E54), light sport aircraft (F37), aircraft systems (F39), unmanned maritime vehicle systems (F41), additive manufacturing technologies (F42), general aviation aircraft (F44), driverless automatic guided industrial vehicles (F45), aerospace personnel (F46), and exoskeleton and exosuits (F48).

Daniels has served in his current position since 2011 and as adjunct faculty at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas since 2013. He is also the chief of strategy for the FAA Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site in New York. Daniels has been a staple of the unmanned aircraft systems test site community since 2013, when he was the proposal manager supporting the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) bid and establishment of an FAA Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site in Nevada. A retired officer of the United States Army, Daniels holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace/aviation studies from Excelsior College and a master’s degree in business administration from Kaplan University.

In addition to ASTM International, Daniels is a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Professional Association of Diving Instructors, Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, Helicopter Association International, and the FAA Safety Team.
