ASTM International Committee on Wood Names Alexander Salenikovich as New Chairman

Dr. Alexander Salenikovich, associate professor at Laval University in Quebec City, Quebec, has been named chairman of ASTM International Committee D07 on Wood.

Formed in 1904, D07 has nearly 300 members and includes 7 subcommittees that oversee over 116 standards related to timber, modified wood, wood-base structural panels, preservatives and fire performance, and more. Salenikovich has been a member of ASTM since 2001.

Salenikovich has been at Laval University since 2003 having previously served as a postdoctoral fellow at Mississippi State University. Salenikovich holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Vyatka State University (Kirov, Russia) and a PhD in forestry and forest products from Virginia Tech. In 2007, he received an award of appreciation for his efforts on D07.

Salenikovich is a member of the Society of Wood Science and Technology, CSA Group, International Organization for Standardization, the International Scientific Committee on the Analysis and Restoration of Structures of Architectural Heritage, and Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (Order of Quebec Engineers).
