ASTM International Committee on Plastics Honors Darden Hood

Darden Hood, former president of Beta Analytic in Miami, Florida, USA, was honored with the William N. Findley Award by ASTM International’s committee on plastics (D20). 

Hood, an ASTM International member since 2004, was recognized for his pioneering leadership and exceptional contributions to the development of a test method on biobased content using radiocarbon analysis. Hood was previously honored with the Award of Appreciation (2011) from the ASTM International committee on sustainability (E60) and the Award of Recognition (2016) from the committee on plastics.  

Hood, now retired, served as president of Beta Analytic since 1995. He previously served as a laboratory technician and a laboratory manager with the organization.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Miami.  

In addition to his ASTM International membership, Hood is a Florida Professional Geologist.
