ASTM International Committee on Geosynthetics Names James Goddard as New Chairman

James B. Goddard, consultant, has been named chairman of ASTM International Committee D35 on Geosynthetics

Formed in 1984, D35 has over 340 members, representing 27 countries, and includes 10 technical subcommittees that oversee over 145 standards related to the use of roadway stabilization and repair, erosion control, soil drainage and reinforcement, hydraulic barriers, and more. Goddard has been a member of ASTM since 1989.

Goddard has been a consultant since 2010, having previously served as chief engineer of Advanced Drainage Systems. Goddard holds a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University.

Goddard is a member of the National Transportation Research Board, and the Plastic Pipe Institute.  Goddard previously received the Award of Merit in 2009 for his work on D35, and the Paul Finn Memorial Award and Special Service Award for his work on Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems.
