ASTM International Committee F05 on Business Imaging Products is currently seeking participation in the development of proposed new standards under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee F05.07 on Ink Jet Imaging Products. Users, original equipment manufacturers and ink producers are needed to assist in the following task groups:

• F05.07.01 This task group is working on developing a user-friendly standard for ink jet cartridges. The proposed standard is tentatively titled Practice for Determining the Yield of Ink Jet Printer Cartridges.
• F05.07.02 This is a follow-up task group that is going to develop a proposed standard Practice for Determining the Bulk Ink Yield in Ink Jet Printers. Activity on this proposed standard will begin after approval of the standard being developed by F05.07.01. Once the proposed standards being developed by F05.07.01 and F05.07.02 have been approved, producers and users of ink cartridges will have a way to accurately and fairly determine the usage of ink per page printed. This will allow consumers to estimate the cost per page and compare sources for the ink and ink cartridges.
• F05.07.25 This task group is working on developing a proposed standard practice for environmental stability, tentatively titled Practice for Determining the Environmental Stability of Ink Jet Ink. The parameters to be used for this standard will be common in the industry and the task group will work to keep the test low-cost and user-friendly while using existing test methods in the procedures. This proposed standard will provide a common way for users and producers to evaluate ink quality during the aging process of ink and ink cartridges.
• F05.07.11 This task group will develop new standards for media and printing, though no activity has begun yet.
