ASTM Accreditation Committee Creates New Personnel Certificate Program Subcommittee

All interested parties are invited to attend the first meeting of ASTM International Subcommittee E36.30 on Personnel Certificate Programs on June 23 at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center in Denver, Colo. The new subcommittee is part of ASTM International Committee E36 on Laboratory and Inspection Agency Accreditation, which will be meeting in Denver June 23-24.

ASTM Subcommittee E36.30 will develop standards to support the recognition and/or accreditation of personnel certificate granting entities to issue a specific certificate or certificates. Standards developed by the subcommittee will include requirements both for the entity issuing a certificate and for specific certificate programs being offered by an entity. The subcommittee will be comprised of task groups on technical certificate programs, non-technical certificate programs and terminology.

Formed in 1973, ASTM Committee E36 has developed a set of standards that play an important role in all aspects of conformity assessment, including operation and recognition of accreditation bodies and conformity assessment entities for calibration and testing laboratories, inspection bodies, and certification and registration bodies.

ASTM International standards can be purchased from Customer Service (phone: 610/832-9585; services@astm.org) or at www.astm.org.
