ASTM is set to host a 1-hour webinar on Nov. 7, 2024 at 12 p.m. entitled, “Consensus Standards on Campus: Connecting ASTM and Academia.”
The webinar will focus on topics like ASTM student membership, student chapters, and the resources it makes available to university students and faculty. Both ASTM members and non-member stakeholders interested in ASTM’s offerings are welcome to the event.
“Involving students and academia in standards development is crucial because it bridges the gap between education and industry, ensuring that the next generation of professionals is equipped with the knowledge and skills to innovate responsibly,” says Andy Kireta, president of ASTM International. “By participating, they gain real-world experience, contribute fresh perspectives, and help shape the frameworks that will guide future technologies and practices.”
The speakers at the event will include:
- Janet Gbur, ASTM board member and research assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University
- Dave Walsh, editor-in-chief for Standardization News
- Travis Murdock, manager of technical committee operations, and
- Tessa Llewelyn, program manager.
